Never mind the economic problems here .... And elsewhere in Europe!
No doubt our “Government” will hail a 2% increase in the EU budget as a success story as greedy Brussels wanted 5% !
Defence cuts for us and...
£8.5 million to PR consultants to improve Baroness Ashton’s image
£51 million to create a museum of “European History” -EU history actually, in Brussels
And..the EU will fine the British around a £1000 million for wrongly allocating grants; when for the 16th year running, the EU's own auditors refuse to sign off the accounts because of the significant level of 'irregularities'.  Ironically the grants are money originally paid to Brussels by the UK in our subsidy.  £398million has already been paid, and £601million is set aside for future payments.  CAN WE HAVE OUR MONEY BACK PLEASE!
Don’t you know we have a budget deficit?

Galileo - Galileo...
Jacques Chirac loves the Galileo GPS system, developed by Europe to rival the US service that we all use for free.

Original estimate Eu 7.7 bn, with companies funding most, leaving Eu2.9 bn to be found by members.  Guess what?  Now there's no corporate funds, and the estimate is Eu 22.2 bn.
The UK share of this folly is Eu 2.9 bn.

The Chief Executive of a German company building the satellites was fired for calling the project  'a stupid idea', and 'a waste of money'.
Spare us the cost of this monstrosity!
Brussels Bonanza
It’s boom time in Brussels while civil servants and diplomats elsewhere feel the chill winds of austerity measures! Baroness Ashton, EU foreign minister will run the 7,000 strong European External Action Service, 114 of her staff earn more than William Hague, fifty of her senior officials earn more than the PM. Meanwhile not to be outdone Herman Van Rompuy keeps a foreign policy staff of more than 20 senior officials (those salaries again). While waiting for his £280 million office block to be built our damp rag of an emperor has recently lavishly refurbished his office.
Remember this when you hear of job cuts in OUR Civil Service

Mirror Image?
October 20th 2010- While George Osborne announced swingeing cuts in Britain they voted for a 6% increase in the EU budget in Brussels

Britain will be paying, at current rates £82 billion pounds to Brussels over the next 5 years. Neatly matching the £81 billion in reduced expenditure announced by George Osborne over the same period.
What a coincidence. You couldn’t make it up

Q. How much money does the Government hope to save by raising University tuition fees?
A. £2.9 billion by 2014 - which happens to be the exact same sum ring fenced, by the same public spending review to help developing countries “fight global warming” with windmills and solar panels
Dave and the Euro Millions Rollover
(with thanks to Simon Heffer)
The £6.5billion rise in the EU budget  (to £115billion) voted through by the European Parliament would cost Britain an extra £900 million next year -on top of the £45million a day we already “donate”

Mr Cameron returned from the leaders summit in Brussels claiming victory in agreeing with other leaders to try to get the increase capped at 2.9% THAT’S STILL AN EXTRA £450 MILLION DAVE! What about the deficit?

Meanwhile, at home, the Coalition has spent £200 million in just 5 months on consultants and marketing. Austerity measures for whom Dave?

Bonfire of the Quangos
At the last election I called for a “bonfire of the quangos” and as part of its cost cutting exercise the Coalition Government has started to tackle the excess expenditure on these bodies in the UK.

But in Brussels the cost of quangos has TRIPLED since 2005 and the cost is set to reach £2.1billion next year. The European Commission has proposed an 8% increase in the 2011 budget for agencies and committees which would cost the UK £300million more in 2011

What George is cutting..
Frontline services -including police (our Surrey police chief is under threat), DEFENCE, pensions, Foreign Office (well we don’t need it now we’ve got Baroness Ashton and her EU “foreign office” do we?) universities (7.1%), child benefit, local government services -which will lead to drastic cuts in local authority spending on housing, highways, libraries and community services.

And what he isn’t....
The £16billion a year we already contribute to EU institutions! Not to mention the increase due to Tony Blair’s giveaway of part of our rebate in exchange for CAP reform. Er ..WHAT REFORM?!
A 47% increase in overseas aid from £7.8billion to 11.5billion!  If you hoped that this generous increase was going to help those less fortunate ask yourself why we are donating £800 million to one of the worlds fastest growing economies- India for projects such as their space programme and of course climate change.
